STEPHENS COUNTY, TEXAS
EXECUTIVE ORDER
DECLARATION OF DISASTER

WHEREAS, the County of Stephens in the State of Texas, on the 5th day of April, A.D., 2010, is
under imminent threat of severe damage, injury, and/or loss of life and property resulting from
the threat of wildfires due to drought and other weather related conditions; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that extraordinary measures must be taken to alleviate
the suffering of people and to protect or rehabilitate property:
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the County Judge of Stephens County, Texas:
1. That a local state of
disaster is hereby proclaimed for Stephens County, Texas, pursuant to Section 418.108(a) of
Texas Government Code.
2. Pursuant to Section
418.108 (b) of Texas Government Code, this Declaration of a local state of disaster shall
continue for a period of not more than seven (7) days from the date of this Declaration unless
continued or renewed by the County Judge and Stephens County Commissioners Court.
3. Pursuant to Section
418.108(c) of Texas Government Code, this Declaration of a local state of disaster shall be
given prompt and general publicity and shall be filed promptly with the County Clerk
of Stephens County, Texas.
4. Pursuant to Section
418.108(d) of Texas Government Code, this Declaration of a local state of disaster
activates the Stephens County Emergency Management Plan.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS ORDER IS THE MITIGATION OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY HAZARD POSED BY WILDFIRES
DURING THE CURRENT DROUGHT AND SEVERE CONDITIONS BY DECLARING A BAN ON
BURNING.
This
Declaration of Disaster shall take effect immediately from and after its issuance, ordered
this 5th day of April, A.D., 2010.
